Public Wifi Safety
When you connect to an unsecured, public, free Wi-Fi network at a coffee shop, the mall, etc., you can easily fall victim to people
who are attempting to access your personal information. Anything that you do on a public Wi-Fi network, including simple things such as
checking the weather or searching for restaurants near you, is not secure. To avoid attacks including malware, data theft, spying, and
password hacking, it's important that you take precautions when your only option is to connect to a public Wi-Fi network.
Tips on Staying Safe on Public Wifi :
Disable file sharing.
Only visit sites that include "HTTPS" in their URL.
Don't log into accounts that contain sensitive information, such as financial or healthcare accounts.
Use a VPN to ensure that your public Wi-Fi connections are made private. Keep in mind that most free VPNs
aren't safe to use, as they often keep track of your information - the exact thing that they are meant to protect
you from. Stick with VPNs that require you to pay subscription fees instead.
Enable a firewall on your device at all times.
Don't connect to public Wi-Fi networks that aren't password protected.
Don't leave your Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on if you aren't using them.
